Friday 20: Iconic Celebrations in sports

Hello guys, a few days back, I had posted a quiz on twitter regarding one of the most famous celebrations in Tennis History, so I thought why not a complete quiz on iconic celebrations?? Who knows, it might take you to the best revisit you ever had....I know I know, that won't happen but still, let's revisit.

Q1 First question coming from the world of Football, which superstar, known for many unique and hilarious celebrations, had a celebration inspired by one of the Fortnite Characters, called "Take the L" you would recognize this with a big L being made by hand near the forehead, as part of the celebration.

c.) Antoine Griezzmann The present Barcelona striker is well known for other celebrations too but this one from his arsenal just steals the show for me.

Q2 "My celebration is an X. I'm a soldier back in Jamaica by profession, 11 years strong. Me saluting is just to show my respect to the Jamaica Defence Force. I just enjoy the saluting, enjoy playing cricket. I practiced the celebration for six months when I was training in the army," said a cricket on asked about his unique celebration on the cricket pitch.

Though a similar celebration was made famous earlier by Marlon Samuels against Ben Stokes in a Test Match.
What is X. Extra points for identifying this "Jamaican soldier" turned cricketer.

a.) Salute Sendoff

Yes, I am indeed talking about the salute of Sheldon Cotrell which has become a very iconic scene in the Caribbean Premier League as well as now in IPL.
Here is Marlon Samuels sporting that celebration against Ben Stokes.

Q.3 While half the world would recognize the "Calma celebration" of Cristiano Ronaldo where he mocks doubters to keep calm, there is another world-famous athlete who uses something similar, as his signature celebration. Albeit a more dancing element to the celebration but the message remains clear "I am the best and watch me perform", aptly called "The Silencer". Identify the player.
hint: He plays in the NBA.

a.) Lebron JamesJust like Ronaldo, arguably one of the best players in NBA history, the celebration has since been taken inspiration by numerous others, including his own son.

Q4 Moving on to the clay court, as French Open is also ongoing, there has to be a question on the king of the Clay court,

Rafael Nadal who has quite literally owned the clay court in his generation made famous a unique way of celebration. His X  pose after winning a tournament, like having a taste of success, has widely gained popularity and was followed by numerous others in different sports from then. X was also done in olden days for some very genuine reasons, but now, is great symbolism for success. If you see Rafa winning a trophy, you see his X pose.

b.) Biting the Trophy

I am sure he has bitten the French Open crown more times than some players have even touched it 😂😂

Q5 The natives of his country know it as "To Di World", a move that was popular in the dancehall movement, a musical genre that has its roots in reggae and became popular in the 1980s and 1990s.

It remains a popular influence and, it appears, has made it into sport thanks to the greatest alive athlete of his field.

Which celebration?

b.) Usain Bolt's Lightning Bolt

You thought there would be a quiz set without the fastest man alive??

That's all for today! Thanks for visiting.
